My name is Phoebe and in August 2019 I will be travelling to Sri Lanka to take part in a four week Psychology placement with SLV.Global.

SLV.Global volunteers work in Sri Lanka, Bali and India, and the placements are designed to provide maximum benefit to the communities, while also providing volunteers with invaluable experience in the mental health sector.

There are different projects that run throughout the programme, including English For Development, Children‘s Development and Special Education Activity Support, and volunteers gain experience in psychiatric facilities to makeshift classrooms while working with individuals of different ages, abilities and backgrounds, all with the focus of promoting positive mental health by boosting confidence, self-esteem and improving key life skills.

As part of my fundraising for this placement, I will be holding a quiz and raffle‪ on Sunday 4th August 2018 at The Royal Standard in Gerrans (Cornwall).‬

Any funds that are left over after the placement will be divided between Little Harbour Children's Hospice South West and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
