    Story

Gongo 'the survivor' is a 2 year old Tanzanian Street Dog who had his leg hacked off with a bush knife in a deliberate act of cruelty. A local resident contacted Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue to alert them to the situation.

That night the rescue staff were unable to reach Gongo as he was too fearful and ran away. The next day they managed to locate him and returned to the rescue where his severe injuries became more apparent. Despite his obvious malnourishment, Gongo was so fearful that he would not eat, drink or even look at the carers, to the point where he was cowering in the corner. After patience and trust building, the carers were able to take him for much needed veterinary treatment and, after surgery and recuperation, he even started to wag his tail.

On inspection it became very apparent that Gongo had suffered many injuries in his short life including neck and mouth/dental wounds. The vet has advised that the mouth wounds will be causing excruciating pain but unfortunately the surgery required is not available in Arusha, Tanzania.

Despite obvious maltreatment and torture, Gongo is the friendliest, sweetest boy who just wants to love and be loved. He enjoys playing with the the other dogs (and cats) & has become a mentor to some young puppies at the rescue!!!

Sadly Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue survive on donations alone, so do not have the finances or space to provide long term care for Gongo and would love to see him move to his forever home and receive the essential veterinary treatment he requires.

I am desperate for Gongo to come and live with me in his forever home in Scotland, but this is extremely expensive and funding is needed for essential medical treatment and travel costs to the UK. Any support/donations, no matter how small, would be very much appreciated to help this gorgeous, gorgeous boy come to his new safe life and forever home in Scotland.

Sincere thanks to all the amazing people who helped Gongo on his journey. A huge thanks to Mbwa-wa-Africa in Tanzania who saved his life and taught him to love and trust humans again. To all the people who cared enough to donate money towards his medical bills and travel to the UK it's especially touching that some people donated in memory of their loved ones. Gongo is a resident of Glasgow Scotland and is now pain free thanks to the kindness of Bill Kennedy of Taylor's Vets who carried out his dental surgery. We've all been Gongo'd!

Thanks to all the people who are giving us hope of bringing Gongo home to Scotland. Every single donation big or small brings us closer to a happy life for this lovely little boy who's experienced so much negativity in his short life. I'm amazed how much he loves people after all he's been through.
