I aim to better my health, life span, life, and change bad habits by quitting smoking by the 8th of January.
I will be 29. I have smoked since I was 16, this is 13 years of around £14,000 I have spent on something that is not a crucial part of my identity. It's time i take this bad habit and turn it into something good and worth while.
A big driver to why i have decided to quit is that I have a serious health problem.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the joints. It can be a painful and debilitating disease.
A lot has been discovered about RA, but the exact cause remains a mystery. Studies have shown that environmental factors play a part in who develops RA and that smoking is a big risk factor.
So i have between now the 24th of October 2016 and the 8th of January 2017 to raise £500 (min) to fund and organise something that is missing from my local community a local arthritis group that helps young and old people socialise and talk about making strides in coming to terms and dealing with this horrendous disease. A disease that can make people (myself included) very lonely, ignored and hopeless. The money will go to organising disabled swim aerobics, socials, group therapy sessions and accessible outings
I promise that if you donate I will quit. If i reach my target there is no going back it's final i will be a non-smoker and hopefully this money can go to helping people through this real struggle that is so often ignored and swept away.
