On 13th June 18, Carl was involved in a serious high speed motorbike accident during a track day at Oulton Park, Cheshire. Two air ambulances attended the scene and air lifted Carl to Aintree Hospital where he was transferred to Horsley Critical Care, at The Walton Centre, in an induced coma. This is a specialist neurology centre. Carl had a bleed on the brain after a head trauma and the consultants and surgeons were uncertain as to whether he would survive. Carl was in the coma for three and a half weeks during which time the neuro- nurses worked tirelessly to keep him alive, looking after him attentively and giving him the best chance of recovery. He was then moved to Sherrington Ward where he continued his journey. Carl is now walking and is in rehab back in the midlands, closer to home, thanks to everyone who has been looking after him. The work that these people are doing is absolutely awe-inspiring. If we can raise some money to buy the Horsley Critical Care ward some fans, ipads or anything else that will help to make a difference to the care and experience of another patient, or help to fund another rescue mission for the air anbulance then at least some good will come out of this awful situation for someone else.
