Story

The number of out-of-school children in Pakistan is the second highest in the world (as many as 44% of children between the ages of five and 16 in Pakistan receive no education). Mawa Trust School, a charity set up by my grandfather, Amir Ahmad, is doing everything it can to combat this. The school in Karachi, set up in 2014, aims to give children from the age of 3 an education they would otherwise not be able to have. I am asking for your donations to this school, which is expanding from 270 children to 320 children in March this year.

The school relies on donations, as it charges no fee to the children. Without the money, the teachers and staff cannot be paid and the children's education cannot be funded, as the cost of rent for the building and electricity cannot be covered. For the children, without education, there is very little hope for them.

My grandfather has put all his savings into this and after visiting last year, I have seen the joy education gives to the children; it genuinely gives them hope.

On March 4th 2018 I ran the 'Big Half Marathon' in aid of Mawa Trust, completing it in 1 hour 38 minutes and 51 seconds(!!!), after I had challenged myself to run it within 1 hour 50 minutes. Every penny possible of every donation will go to Mawa Trust School, funding the education of a child in a considerably less fortunate economic situation than us.

Thank you so much for your donations- anything helps.

Below are links to the school’s facebook pages and pictures of my trip to the school in April 2017, which highlights some of the brilliant work that has already been done with the donations, but also the conditions the employees and children work in.
