Story
Streatham and Marlborough CC is proud to have been chosen by the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) out of 2500 clubs to be their showcase club for 2017 Natwest Cricket Force.
What is NatWest CricketForce?
It’s the largest annual volunteering initiative in UK Sport aiming to rejuvenate the nation’s cricket facilities. It encourages cricket supporters, their friends and families, and local businesses to give something back to their local community cricket club by volunteering to participate in major renovation projects to clubhouses and grounds.
Participation in NatWest CricketForce has rocketed since its launch in 2002, when just one showcase club took part. It’s now grown to over 2,500 clubs across the country and 100,000 volunteers. We are trying to carry out many ground improvements and utilise the work force on the day in order to make the following projects achievable. We hope that the vast majority of members from all sections of the club will attend along with friends and family who generously donate their time. From outside the club, we believe at least one England player, a couple of Surrey players
and some well-known (and cricket-loving) politicians will be there.
What do we plan to do?
We plan to use Cricketforce to make the club are more welcoming environment for members and guests. The kinds of
work that may need doing are:
• Improve the car-park and front of house appearance
• Provision of an more obvious path to access the club
• Potentially adding lighting to path and garages if funding allows
• Erect six metre high netting between us and Camber Tennis Club
next door which stretches 80 metresLevel and install low level
wooden fencing along the pathway
• Paint all external fencing
• Disabled access to the pavilion
• Warmer and more obvious entrance to the pavilion
• Clear the boundaries of the pitch of all low level vegetation to
smarten appearance and facilitate on-going maintenance
•General spruce up of pavilion and bar areas
