Story
Blue Ink Trust is a UK based charity founded in 2010. The Charity is trying desperately to support some of the poorest children of Siddharth Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, by building a school and thus providing them with much needed Islamic and academic education without which they would have no education.
Siddharth Nagar is one of the poorest districts of Uttar Pradesh State in India. The Muslim population of some of its towns and villages is over 55%, however, there are no schools in the area that can teach the religion of Islam or pave the way for higher education or job-oriented training. Alhamdulillah, the Blue Ink School has been able to fill this void and provide these children with a real alternative.
The people of this area live on rice cultivation only, there are no factories or other sources of income. With the increase in population, some children are sent to the cities in search of jobs. Due to illiteracy and differences in language, they end up in shantytowns, and in most cases in the wrong hands where they are badly exploited. Alarmingly, some of these children are as young as ten. For girls and young women, in particular, the situation is utterly beyond description in terms of exploitation.
Most of the pupils cannot even afford to buy a pair of trousers and a shirt, let alone pay school fees. The school provides them with a uniform and all necessary equipment. These children need to have an education so that the community can come out of the shackles of deprivation, marginalisation and exploitation. This includes the poor children of other faiths as well.
The school currently accommodates 600 pupils, with the first cohort of students reaching Yr 8 this year. For these pupils to continue to Yr 9 they will need to build more classrooms otherwise, sadly, their education will have to come to an end.
By the grace of Allah (SWT) they have managed to complete the construction of 15 classrooms, however, they still need to complete another 12 classrooms, a science lab, a computer room, a library and most importantly, a Masjid, which will cost around £78K in total. The present running cost of the school is around £30K per year.
Therefore, I request that you kindly support this cause to the best of your capability with your Sadaqah and Zakat. Helping this cause will be Sadaqah Jariya for you, may Allah (SWT) reward you and your family greatly in both worlds and save you from all trials and tests for helping us to complete this project. Helping the less fortunate and poor by supplying food and essentials is very noble work, but this alone will not enable them to get out of poverty. However, educating and training them will help them end this cycle.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)". [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1631]
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2588]
"Whoever recommends and helps a good cause, becomes a partner therein." [Surah Al Nisa : 85]
