Story
**UPDATED 16/10/18** We are a Local Running group of all abilities and we are aiming to have a “Marathon Year” were we are hoping to get as many of our runners involved & taking part in as many local marathons as possible in 2018, This is by no means a small task, a few are our more experienced runners while others have just completed our Couch to 5K Program. and others are pushing towards their first 10K, but all will be pushing themselves outside and well beyond their comfort zone to take part in Local Marathons at some point in 2018 for charity.
We are fast aproaching the final event of our "Marathon Year", Dublin Marathon '18. Brendan McCamphill & Thomas Darragh have completed their 10 half marathons and were actually able to fit in No.11 Well done to them both.
The group of Runners training for Dublin full marathon at the end of October are all complete with their training and are tapering down to the big event on the 28th October. A few injuries and blisters along the way but they are all ready to go, Best of Luck to them all on the Big Day.
Start of September saw a group of 25 Rasharkin Runners complete the Walled City Half Marathon. and another group headed to Belfast at the end of September to complete the Belfast Half Marathon, so it really has been a Marathon Year for Rasharkin Runners. Donations & support for them all so far has been unbelievable. lets hope it continues.
Also the Rasharkin Annual Charity Event that took place on Sat 01st September. were all the Walkers, Runners, Cyclists and duathletes raised over £3400 in total with half going to our chosen charity, well done everyone!!
With your help we hope to raise vital funding for a local charity Friends of Laurel House and MacMillan Nurses. They are locally based and supply care and support to cancer patients and there families at Laural House at Antrim Area Hospital. Being local some of our runners and their families have experienced first hand the great work they do and the challanges they face.
The MacMillan charity aim to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same. There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow to 4 million by 2030. MacMillan want to make sure they can provide support to everyone who needs it, to help people affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives. It’s a big task and they can’t do it alone. any donations encouragement or support no matter how great or small is greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks. All at Rasharkin Runners.
