Story
Me and six other student midwives from Sheffield Hallam University have been successful in applying for a volunteering programme in Sri Lanka for two weeks in August 2019 during our summer break.
This trip will allow us to observe and participate in the maternity and new-born care that differs extraordinarily from the UK. It will be of huge benefit to us as we will experience a completely different way of life, face new challenges as we adapt to a new environment and gain a deeper understanding of the care provision provided in Sri Lanka.
As this volunteering placement is optional, it is self-funded, therefore any contributions from friends and family will be greatly appreciated. We also have many plans in place for fundraising events that will be carried out throughout the year, and so we would be extremely thankful for your support. On our return from our trip, we will be writing an article to share our amazing experiences and the challenges we faced in Sri Lanka with our contributors.
We are all so grateful to be given this opportunity, and cannot wait to share our experience!
