Period poverty is a growing problem in the UK with a recent study evidencing that 1 in 10 girls are unable to afford menstrual products. In Rochdale 1/3 of children are living in poverty and in some wards this is even higher. We know through our work that period poverty is happening in our towns and in our schools.

I am crowdfunding for The Red Box Project Rochdale, It is a not for profit community project that relies solely on kind donations, it is a simple scheme, made with love for the young women in our community.

What we aim

To quietly ensure that no young woman in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale misses school or suffers embarrassment because they have their period.

Giving young women in need - whether for financial or social reasons - the reassurance of enough sanitary pads for their entire period plus a couple left over for next time.

We sponsor and stock Red Boxes in schools filled with towels, tampons, spare pants and tights.

 No tearful panics in the loo

 No wadded up toilet roll

 No anxious embarrassment.

 No missed lessons or staying home.

We are currently supporting 15 local schools and 2 community groups and we want and need to support more. Our ultimate aim is to have a Red Box in every school in our Borough.

What we need / How can you help?

Any funds raised will be used to pay for boxes, pants, tights and stationary/printing, brown paper bags and everything that is not donated. The more money we raise the more young women in need we are able to reach.
