Story
My whole world crumbled on the 12th March 2018 (Updated 23rd March, it has been found out Jason has suffered brain damage).
Jason was found by our 13 year old daughter slumped on the sofa in obvious distress. He has suffered with Epileptic fits for years now, and I just though he was recovering from one of those fits, but after a few hours, I knew something wasn't right. I called for the paramedic who came out within 20 minutes, and he too thought it was linked to his Epilepsy.
It wasn't until we reached Colchester General Hospital where they did a CT scan that we found out the horrible truth. He had suffered from a massive bleed on the left side of his brain. Within a couple of hours he was transferred to Queen's Hospital Romford. We know it's the best place for him as they have the best Neurological team in the country, but it is so far away (62 miles)from us here in this small town of Walton-on-the-naze, Essex, and the fact that no one in the family drives, makes travel even more expensive. Jason could be in hospital for up to 6 months, and the train fare is £35 per person, and there are 6 of us that regularly go.
As a family, we have never liked asking for outside help, but we basically have no other course of action as we are on minimum benefits and the travel cost is way too far out of our price range, any donation given will be spent solely on travel expenses for the whole family and anything left over, will be used to get something nice for Jason when he recovers and comes home.

6 years agoWell he is finally home, but we still need more help, he is going to have to have a lot of aftercare which I will be doing on my own. There are still a lot of things we need that we wont be able to get from the OT or the Physio. So please, if you haven't done so already, please donate as anything raised now is solely for aftercare equipment costs. Thank you all so much who have supported us already.

6 years agoJust a quick update on Jason. He has been told he is medically fit to be discharged but not physically. I have to count the stairs up to the front door and to the bedroom, I also have to measure the height of the bed and the sofa. Looks like we are going to have to borrow a wheel chair for when he wants to go out and he is going to have to use a walking frame for a while. Today he managed to walk all the way to the ward entrance and they told him to slow down a bit, but he refuse. Ralphy is still stealing most of the bed, as always.

Jason has always been a family man and he loves his kids so much. Not being about to visit him on a regular basis is so upsetting to both me; his fiance and his children, the youngest being 13 and her dad is her whole world.
