Story
Hi,
My son was born with a bleeding disorder called Haemophillia. He has the severe type which means that his joints and muscles can spontaneously bleed at any time!
On the 27th October, just 10 days before his first birthday, he has his first spontaneous bleed in his ankle and hip. This was so very painful for him and for us to watch. This led to him having emergency surgery the following day to have a port put in his chest so he could be medicated daily with something called factor 8. Factor 8 helps with his bleeds and bruises, but does not stop them. This hospital stay we was in for 6 days.
The day after his first birthday, he has another bleed around in his new port which meant that Drs had to attempt to canualte him. After 15 attempts, they finally got a line into him and gave him his meds. We was in hospital for 4 days this time.
I now give him daily treatment at home but We have to go to addenbrooks every other day during the week to have his blood tested and screened.
As you can imagine this is terribly hard on him and our family, but rather than being negative, we are trying to be positive.
As a family, we are trying to raise much needed awareness as well as funds. Funds will be split equally between The Haemophillia Society and C2 Ward at Addenbrooks Hospital where Reggie has to stay when his bleeds occur.
Kindest RegardS
