Meet Riley, he's our 8 year old Dalmatian who we have had since he was 7 weeks old. He is such a happy, friendly, boy and is a massive part of our family but sadly he has started to have seizures.
The first of his fit’s started last year when we rushed him to the vets to get him checked over as we didn’t know what was happening to him. He was referred to Pride Veterinary Hospital where we funded further tests and had a scan on him. The scan came back that he has a small tumour of his brain which was too small to operate on at the time. Ever since then Riley has had seizures every 4-6 months which we were managing with medication. Sadly the seizures have become more frequent and only days apart.
Each seizure lasts around 10 minutes and is very distressing to watch and even more distressing for Riley. It takes him around half an hour to come back around following one and even after this time he is still not his normal self which is heart breaking to witness.
Riley has pet Insurance but they are refusing to pay out for the correct care that is required for him as he is having to have regular tests at the vets to monitor his health. We don’t believe these tests are showing the correct results as they are coming back that he is fine which is clearly not the case as the seizures are still happening and becoming more frequent.
To give Riley the best chance possible and get him the help to stop these from happening, we want to have him scanned again at the Pride Veterinary Hospital, which cost around £1,500 but our insurance are saying they will not cover and we sadly cant fund the whole cost of getting this done.
I have never done anything like this before and wouldn’t normally ask strangers to help us but we can’t think of any other option to get the care which Riley needs so please if you can donate anything at all it will be gratefully received and help towards us giving Riley the best chance we possibly can.
