Story
In September I will be walking 200 kms from Rusape to Harare, I will walk for 6 days for around 8 hours each day. I walk to honour the memory of my late father Sharad Solanky and also to raise funds for two charities close to my heart.
Makoni Old People's Home - A home that cares for the elderly that have become destitute. We provide them with a room, food, medication and some love! I have helped at this home through the support of family and friends for 5 years now.
The funds will be going towards sorely needed renovations and the garden- the home is not disabled friendly, windows are broken, the roof is leaking , there is no geyser..to mention a few! We would also like to set up a sustainable gardening project!
Street kids of Rusape- After seeing the deplorable way street kids roam the streets begging in Rusape I am determined to change their daily lives. Using the space at the back of my shop we will set up a safe environment for the kids where they can and come and go and play and learn during the day. As well as receive one basic meal.
The funds will be going towards setting up and gearing the space for kids to learn and play.
Whatever you may want to contribute however big or small every kilometer I walk will be for them!
