Rokhan has recently turned 3. About a year ago we realised he is not meeting the expected milestones of his age. He was non-verbal, no eye contact and not following instructions or even responding when being called.

In his first appointment with a Speech and Language Therapist, we have been told that he has many characteristics of an autistic person. Since then, he has been assessed for hearing, social communication and language skills until this week when we officially been informed that he has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). He is suffering from severe learning difficulties due his autistic condition.

Autism “has no cure” but through positive intervention such as Speech & Language Therapy as well as ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) which are well-known specialist intervention could help him improve his communication and develop good life skills. Though we are in low income but we started ABA therapy for him since July 2017 in order to do some early intervention which he has shown amazing improvement. We are planning to add private Speech & Language Therapy if we could raise fund. At the moment he has been under at least 20 hours of ABA therapy every week. We already see the impact i.e. how his social skills including non-verbal communication has been improved. However we are financially struggling to continue. He is very young and early intervention is very important and beneficial in his development.

The council is aware of his condition but their amazing resources/support is very limited for Rokhan's learning difficulties and delayed speech.

That is why we are trying to seek some financial support through this fund raising in order to not miss out this early stage of his life. We want to continue helping Rokhan's Speech & Language Therapy as well as ABA therapy. We can not do without your thoughtful and generous donations. Thank you
