This is my brother Charlie. He was born with Cystic Fibrosis. Charlie is one of the bravest people I know and always lives life to the fullest.

My sister April sadly passed away at age 11 with the same condition.

I am crowdfunding to raise funds for a physiotherapy vest for my brother to make his life easier and to reduce the nasty infections he gets, which ends up with him being in hospital for days and weeks on end.

The build-up of mucus in the lungs causes chronic infections, meaning that people with cystic fibrosis struggle with reduced lung function and have to spend hours doing physiotherapy and taking nebulised treatments each day. Exacerbations (a sudden worsening of health, often owing to infection) can lead to frequent hospitalisation for weeks at a time.

Most people with CF will experience problems with lung function, which can drop to less than 20% of the value expected in someone with fully functioning lungs. A combination of physiotherapy and medication can help control lung infections and prevent the build-up of mucus that causes the damage. The Phsyiotherapy vest (which is unfortunately not funded by the NHS) can help with this and reduce infections and complications.
