Liz first met Sarah at Derby Theatre whilst performing in a touring show there, and has subsequently worked for Sarah at the theatre twice since then. Sarah is Liz's favourite Director! In every single rehearsal Sarah is so positive, strong, has so much energy, gets the absolute best from everyone, and treats everyone so beautifully, so that everyone feels like an equal part of a family. It's only right that we support her and give back to her now.

Many moons ago Sarah went to Hull Truck Youth Theatre with my husband Jonathan. What happens in youth theatre stays in youth theatre!!! It was those early days in Hull that set her on the path to a wonderful career in theatre.

Loreto first met Sarah back when Sarah took up her post at Derby Theatre. Loreto had recently set up the youth theatre and was directing a main stage show with 50 young people in. Sarah's bright spark illuminated the theatre, her impact has been incredible. She is such a generous woman, strong, bold, sensitive, supportive and inspiring.

Sarah has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, adenoid cystic carcinoma. Hopefully you’ve never heard of it and never will again. Sarah has a tumour in her windpipe which cannot be operated on, chemotherapy won’t help with and it’s resistant to radiotherapy.

Following a lot of research, her best option now is to travel to Germany for Carbon Ion therapy, a type of treatment not available on the NHS. Carbon Ion therapy will hopefully stop the tumour from growing or spreading. In order for this to happen, she needs to raise £60,000.

Sarah is dealing with a lot right now. And she’s dealing with it in a typically Sarah way - head on.

To quote Sarah:

‘On the positive side (there has to be one right!) I physically feel ok and I remain positive. If you see me you wouldn't know I have this 6 cm tumour in my windpipe. I’m still working, still laughing, still putting the world to rights and still talking in a broad Hull accent. So Cancer is not winning!”
