We are past, present and future midwives at Wexham Park Hospital and we are putting on our running shoes on Sunday 24th September and running the Windsor Half Marathon.

We are running for MAMA, a cause very close to our hearts. MAMA is a charity run by a small group of midwives from the UK passionate about improving advocacy of local Ugandan midwives, thus improving maternal and neonatal health in the surrounding areas. MAMA's aim is to support local midwives by means of ongoing education and equipment, enabling them to provide improved healthcare and outcomes for mothers and babies.

MAMA Volunteers self fund their trips and use their annual leave. Half of our runners have already been out and volunteered in Uganda for MAMA, with a future four week trip already planned for one runner the week afer we cross the finish line.

Seeing first hand where this money goes and how it helps local midwives and families, gives us the drive to complete this massive challenge for all of us.

Historia

Gracias por dedicarnos parte de tu tiempo y leer nuestra historia.

Somos matronas que en su día trabajamos, continuamos trabajando o trabajaremos en Wexham Park Hospital, uh hospital a las afueras de Londres. Nos hemos dispuesto a calzarnos las zapatillas de deporte el día 24 de Septiembre y correr la media maratón de Windsor.

Corremos por MAMA, una causa muy cercana a nuestros corazones. MAMA es una asociación caritativa establecida por un pequeño grupo de matronas de Reino Unido. Es nuestra pasión implementar programas de educación y proveer a las matronas locales de los recursos sanitarios necesarios, para así mejorar la salud maternal y neonatal de la población en una zona remota en Uganda.

Los voluntarios de MAMA cubren con todos los gastos de sus viajes y dedican gran parte de sus vacaciones a ayudar. La mitad de aquellos que corremos ya han tenido la oportunidad de ofrecer voluntariado en Uganda para MAMA y viajes futuros siguen siendo organizados.


Sabemos en primera persona lo mucho que el dinero que recaudemos podrá ayudar a las matronas y familias de Uganda. Esto nos ayuda a unirnos aún más para poder completar uno de nuestros mayores desafíos hasta el momento.
