Just Wheels is a new charity that aims to support some of the worlds poorest, and most marginalised people. We aim to do this very simply - by providing wheelchairs and hand bikes to children and adults with physical disabilities.

Being disabled is hard at the best of times, but being disabled in a country like Tanzania can be a death sentence with a much higher chance of being chronically poor, ill and excluded. We aim to try to change that, one chair at a time.

Just Wheels has been set up by a group of people who know that we can all make a real difference. We have experience of disability and know that having the right equipment is vital to enable an active, happy life for people with disabilities. This can mean that children can get to school, adults can work, people can play sport and be part of the community, it brings respect and reduces stress on families. Without equipment disabled people face poverty, isolation, an inability to work or study and in many cases, illness due from their disability and it can create strain on families.

Emma Burtles is passionate about this. With a severely disabled son, she knows about the importance of good equipment. She says 'We are so lucky to have our NHS to provide this. Having worked and lived in Tanzania, I want to help people who are not so lucky to a better life'. Emma has visited Tanzania and has identified needy recipients and funds have been sent to make the first chairs. Chairs cost between £100 and £200 each.

Sally is running 50km for her 50th birthday. If we all run/walk/cycle part of the way with her we could do a total of 500km and if we can collect £1 for every km we do we will reach the target of £500.
