Story
My name is Sam and when i was 3 1/2 years old i was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I never let this define or control my life. Because of this i was able to represent my country and live a relatively "normal" life.
Unfortunately at the age of 21 I was diagnosed with Kidney failure because of the Diabetes, the plan was to take medication but my mental health suffered and things got worse. Luckily I received a transplant for a kidney and pancreas on 9th June 2014. This only happened because someone I have never met, seen or talked to passed away and their family made the most generous decision and gave me the gift of life.
I try to honour my donors memory by giving to others ( I work in a school) and I cannot think of a better way to represent him than to also represent my county and this is why I am asking for help. Like I said earlier, I work in a school working with children with Special Educational Needs and I dearly love my job, but it's not well paid. I need to raise money to pay for entry to the games, team uniform, travel expenses and expenses from attending Team GB training events. I am not cheeky enough to ask you to fund my spending money ;)
If any company would like to sponsor me I am happy to visit and speak to people about my life and experiences and I can also wear sponsors logos, though the are some rules on this.
Thank you for your time and any money you donate is very gratefully received.
Sam

7 years agoThank you to everyone who has already donated, it really means a lot. I believe that with the money raised so far it covers the cost of my travel expenses and the cost of the team kit. Please feel free to share with anyone with an interest in sport or philanthropy ;) Sam P.S. I will be on BBC Radio Lincolnshire on Monday morning around 7.50 talking about this trip and organ donation.
