    Story

THIS IS THE SECOND PAGE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. PLEASE ALSO SEE www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/samanthas-wheelchair

My name is Deanne and on the 12th March 2017 my sister Katrina and 3 friends will be running the Weymouth half marathon on behalf of our cousin Samantha.
We will be running with wheelchairs, taking it in turns pushing two other people in the wheelchairs throughout the whole 13.1 miles.
Unfortunately due to a route change the course is now partially off road so we are not able to use the wheelchairs but would like to say a massive thank you to Adam Luckhurst at Agincare for supplying them for us.
Also due to other circumstances it will only be myself and Katrina running the half marathon.
Thanks again to everyone who has donated. We aim to raise money for a new wheelchair which will give Samantha more independence.
Samantha is a 30 year old disability campaigner, who often works for charities such as SCOPE and the Brittle Bones Society on a voluntary basis. She has a condition called Osteogenesis Impececta or more commonly known as Brittle Bones. Already she has experienced over 200 broken bones throughout her life and has had a number of operations. Her condition means that she is unable to walk and currently uses a manual wheelchair.
Although Samantha does have a manual wheelchair, she is finding it increasing difficult to go out independently. She has restricted movement in her arms, which makes pushing her wheelchair long distances very challenging.
Samantha has already approached the NHS Wheelchair services for help in funding an electric chair but she was turned down. a powered chair will allow Samantha to go out independently with no worries of pavements that are unsuitable for a manual chair or curbs that are too steep to get down.
This is a large sum for anyone but if you were to put a price on your independence or your legs and ability to walk then it seems a small amount to ask for.

We would like to thank everyone who has already donated to the previous page- there was an error with the first page as the end date was incorrect and the page terminated before it should have BUT DON'T WORRY ALL PREVIOUS DONATIONS ARE SAFE AND SOUND AND WILL BE GOING TO THE ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR! To reach our £2000 goal we are still needing £775 before the marathon in March! Once again a massive thank you to all who have already donated as it means the world!
