Agios Stefanos - or San Stefanos as it is often called - is a beautiful village situated in the North West area of Corfu. A fishing village, Agios Stefanos is also well known as a popular holiday destination and welcomes holidaymakers year after year during the summer months.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, this brings with it an animal community ranging from sheep to goats and not forgetting cats and dogs - many of which are the much loved pets owned by local inhabitants.

Of course there have always been a number of stray cats and dogs around and many have been fed and at times assisted by people living locally.

Over the last year a number of stray cats have 'moved themselves in' just behind the gates of a disused hotel and have caught the attention of summertime visitors to our village. Many of these visitors - although on holiday - could not resist the urge to help feed them and the cats certainly have enjoyed the attention.

Over time this cat community has increased as more kittens were born and the count to date is 17 and 4 kittens.. We know of course that female cats can produce several litters of kittens per year and in order to keep this under control, sterilization is important.

The aim is to raise funding for these cats to assist with both the Sterilization of the females and the continued feeding of these sweethearts over the winter months and beyond. I have negotiated a reduced cost per sterilization which is now 50 euros ( approx 46 GBP) per female cat.
