Story
Let me tell you a little about Sarah and why this page has been set up.
Sarah is selfless in helping others. She will bend over backwards to help anyone who needs it and never thinks of herself when doing so. Sarah uses all of her free time to volunteer for several charities in the local area and has done for many years now. She never says no to helping out at fundraisers for Deeside Cats Protection and being actively involved and hands on in Ballater Victoria Week. She has also done fundraising on her own, such as a sponsored swim for Deeside Cats Protection, and a 10k race to raise money for her basketball team.
What you probably don't know is, Sarah does all this and is a full-time wheelchair user.
Sarah has a problem with her neurology and as such has lost the use of her legs. She is in constant tremor and her legs cramp and spasm all the time, which is incredibly painful for her; However you will never hear her complain about the pain though, and she meets everyone with a big smile and a sense of cheerfulness. She would never dream of burdening anyone with her problems and is often there for others to talk to.
Sarah never asks for anything and is always willing to help anyone who asks without a second thought. She would never dream of doing this for herself as she would rather raise money for others. This is the reason we have set up this fundraising page on her behalf.
She uses a club-owned basketball sportschair, which is a generic size and was orginally intended for the likes of you and me who have no disability. Sarah struggles to use this chair as she doesn't have core strength and has to compensate by only using one hand while playing – if she leans back she's stuck, and the same when leaning side to side.
Sarah needs a high chair that has a bucketed seat to give her stability, so she can reach and not get stuck or fall out. The club she plays for doesn't have any of these kind of sportschairs, so please help fulfil her dream.

7 years agoThe Quote has come in from RGK for the sportschair with all the needed modifications Sarah needs to be able to play to the best of her ability. The total is £3,664.25, so our original estimate wasn't too far off the mark. Thank you everyone who has donated so far to the sportschair fund. We are at 8% of our target. Sarah is in preparation for the next Women's League fixture in Nottingham and is raring to go!

8 years agoLee from RGK came up to the wheelchair team's training last night to get Sarah's measurements. The chair shown is the one that Sarah would like to have in her size - in yellow naturally!! She had a chance to have a go in this demo chair and even Lee was impressed with her speed. The quote for the cost of the chair for Sarah will be sent to us in the next few weeks, so we will have a better idea of the actual amount we will need to raise. Thank you everyone who has made a donation so far.
