Story
Every 4 years Great Britain celebrates the very best of Special Olympic sport. The national summer games is the country’s largest multi-sports event for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The games presents a huge opportunity to showcase the abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities, allowing them to compete at a national level and experience the personal achievement this brings.
I have been fortunate to teach several of the athletes taking part in the games and I'm immensely proud of their achievements.
Every athlete taking part in the games will need to cover entry, uniform, travel and accommodation costs which for many will total £1000.
In support of our athletes I will be riding a static bike for 24hours from 1pm on the 12th of June until 1pm on the 13th of June. Any support you can offer would be hugely appreciated by the South Yorkshire Special Olympics team.
The 10th National Summer Games will take place in the city of Sheffield across a number of sporting venues between 7-12 August 2017. You can find out more about the games via: http://sheffield2017.org.uk/sports/
