    Story

Sadly there are too many lonely and isolated older people in our communities these days with only the television as a source of company. They are all alone to face the uncertainties that old age often brings without family or friends to help. Older people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation or loneliness owing to loss of friends and family, mobility or income. It can be a terrible and frightening experience to see no-one for days on end.

Age Connects Wales is the umbrella organisation for 6 Age Connects charities working across Wales to support older people. Age Connects Wales vision is to live in a society where older people are respected and valued.

I will be running the London Marathon on the 22nd April in the hope of raising £500 towards recruiting volunteers to provide support, information and advocacy for older people across Wales. This will be my last marathon and it's wonderful to end with London. As you may know I work for Age Connects in Flintshire and Wrexham but this last marathon is to support Age Connects Wales including North East Wales, North Wales Central, Neath Port Talbot, Morgannwg, Torfaen and Cardiff and The Vale.

Any donation no matter how small will make a difference, thank you for reading.

I'm Sarah and I work for Age Connects North East Wales supporting older people in the community. I see first hand how loneliness and isolation can impact negatively on older people. The aim of all the Age Connects across Wales is to ensure that older people feel valued.
