    Story

My boyfriend is currently working overseas in Saudi Arabia. On a trip to the city one day he stopped at the local fuel station where he was greeted by this beautiful little stray. She was so out of place, the fuel station being in the middle of nowhere but full of busy lorries and cars. She tugged at his trousers as if she wanted him to follow her. She was very weak and frail so he picked her up and headed in the direction she was wanting him to go. He came to a sandy area behind the building, quiet and full of rubbish as it were a dumping ground.. looking closer he saw that she had led him to where her siblings were! Overwhelmed by all these puppies my boyfriend headed back into the shop and got them some food and water.. they were ravenous and so thirsty with being in the desert heat. He's been back nearly everyday for the past 2 weeks to feed and water them but noticed that the little female that had come to find him on the 1st day was no where to be seen. When my boyfriend eventually found her, hidden underneath piles of rubbish, she didn't raise her head to drink or eat. He left water and food for her hoping she would come out but the day after he couldn't find her at all. Worried about her he went back once again and found her hiding. It was as if she had given up. Her siblings were so full of life and were very confident in comparison.

My boyfriend decided to sneak her back into camp to keep a closer eye on her. She was very nervous so he made her a little den in his cabin so she could feel safe and get comfortable. She still wasn't drinking or eating but when she eventually got up for water my boyfriend noticed that she could barely hold her self up, her little legs were shaking and buckling because she was so weak. She slept for 2 days straight without even making a noise. Over the next few days she started coming out of her den by herself and lapping up the water. She's even managed to eat and has regained her strength. She went out on a lead today and absolutely loved her walk, even though it was only short she looked so much happier than the little puppy that hid from the world under a pile of rubbish. She's so loving and will happily lie by his side whilst he works.

I've been trying to find rescue centres in Riyadh but its not as easy as it is here in the UK, most of them don't have a shelter and work with trying to find foster homes. I'll keep searching to help her siblings find their forever homes but as for this little one, we have absolutely fallen in love with her and would love to fly her home to us so she can have the life she deserves. We have 6 dogs of our own and absolutely love all animals. We're currently renovating a barn just so they all have the space and land that their little hearts desire. The costs involved in bringing her home are just something we can't do on our own right now with all the other commitments we have (building works ect).. it'll be a lengthy process but we are willing to put all the work in and would appreciate any help we could get.

For now she can hopefully stay with my boyfriend whilst he's at work and when he comes home we're hoping she can stay with one of his work colleagues.. she's probably only around 7-8 weeks old, she's tiny and will need all of her injections and vet check ups.. her rabies vaccine and all the paperwork to go with transporting a dog home. We're hoping to raise as much as we can to give her a better life and if we end up making more than we need we would love to donate the rest to an animal shelter in Saudi or our local Rescue centre here in Lincolnshire. We haven't named her yet but will keep you all updated.. we were scared to get too attached but its happened!

We know that rescuing one dog won't change the world but it could change the world to this one dog.. They are a gift in our eyes and we our lucky to call them our companions.. definitely man's best friend.

    Thank you all xox
