What could you spend £27,000 on?
How about throwing a festival? Since the first one in 2000, the Kelvedon Community Festival has provided a fun, family friendly day of live music, local acts and stalls and throughout the years has remained free to enter.
The festival, however, is not free to put on. The acts, stages, sound systems, tents, toilets, security team, beer tent, electricity, insurance, first aiders, safety equipment and licence to run the festival itself are just some of the costs involved. In total, the event costs £27,000 to put on each year and this is normally covered by sponsorship, donations, fundraising events and sales from the beer tent. That also doesn't include the many, many hours of time given freely by the Festival Committee, the volunteers on the day, and the people that raise funds throughout the year to make the festival possible.
Unfortunately, the future of the festival hangs in the balance. With lower than expected donations from last year's festival and no sponsorship secured at the time of writing this, there is a very real chance that there may not be a festival in 2017.
But you can help change this.
We are asking you to help us raise £2000. This would be enough to cover the shortfall, so any donation you can make, no matter how big or small, can help secure the future of the festival. If you've ever been to this great community event, then you'll know what a fantastic day it is and how important it is that we keep it alive.
Thanks in advance for any support you can give and together, we can #savekfest

7 years agoA huge thank you to all of you who have donated, you've been incredibly generous! We've still got a long way to go though, so please share the page on your Facebook, tell your friends and family, spread the word however you want! We've only got 12 days left to go and I know we can reach our target, but only if we tell more people about it! Thanks again, and let's #savekfest

I am responsible for running the Silent Disco tent at the Kelvedon Community Festival, and I, along with the other DJs who perform, all do so for free each year. I have also been a member of the festival committee for the past two years.
