    Story

Very recently, a client and amazing friend of mine had a few issues with 2 of her mobility wheelchairs. One of them had to go in to the repair shop to have the motor repaired because it had died. Within a week of receiving the chair back the same thing happened again. Whilst this chair was in for repairs, she was using her other mobilitu chair, but this one had some issues with one of it's front wheels in that the spoke was bent so the wheel constantly jammed. The charity that I worked for put this chair in for a quick repair whilst we were in London together with the team, which worked great after, and so she was able to get around easier until she was able to take this one in for repair as well. Unfortunately, within a few days of receiving her 2nd chair back, she was travelling home from Sheffield City Centre, when she was made aware of the fact that the chair was smoking. The fuse hadn't tripped when 2 wires connected and caught fire.

Although the insurance company is willing to pay for most of the cost of the incident, she has been told to pay an excess of £200, after already paying almost £1000 in repairs to both chairs within the past 4 weeks. She is terminally ill and cannot walk for more than a few steps due to the nature of her condition. She has just started a University course with which she is now absent from class because she is unable to transport herself around.

Please help me to raise some money to help cover the cost of the insurance excess. If we can raise more in the hopes of reimbursing her for the cost of the repairs as well, I know she will be so happy with the unexpected but amazing generosity of those around her. She is an incredible woman with a spark of life in everything she does and for her incredible goodness, deserves a decent opportunity to be able to get about her daily life without struggle.

My name is Naima and I have been working with Sister Shel since March 2017 as part of an End of Life Support charity organisation. I have spent almost every week with her getting to know her, going places with her and in general just enjoying her sense of humour and knowledge.
