Story
We are fundraising to protect Kidsley Park Farm and the local countryside from being taken over by a corporate solar firm. We're campaigning to fight the planning application which, in addition to our passion, requires the help of legal professionals and planning experts.
Our Story:
'Farmer Andrew' is a local Derbyshire farmer whose entire livelihood is at risk. As a third generation farmer, his family have farmed in Smalley village for 94 years, while the farm has been around ever since the Domesday Book. Andrew has continuously supported our local communities and businesses and has been a huge advocate for numerous local schools and community projects.
Kidsley Park Farm is at risk of being entirely taken over by an energy firm moving to use the land as a base for a new solar farm. Over 100 acres of fields would be used for the project, destroying the farm and harming the Green Belt it sits on. Andrew's business, livelihood and the Smalley countryside would be ruined forever and no financial benefit would be seen by the community whatsoever.
The farm is home to a huge variety of wildlife - some red and amber listed, all at risk. 5 miles of public trails and footpaths run through the farm, connecting villages and communities together.
Your support to protect Farmer Andrew, Kidsley Park Farm and the residents of Smalley and it's surrounding communities would be massively appreciated. It is immoral that large, corporate energy companies can destroy small businesses and local people. Please help us take a stand to fight for our communities and the people supporting them from within.
We are raising funds to fight the planning application that will see Andrew's farm and our local countryside destroyed. Although we are determined to save these cornerstones of our community, our success will be reliant on engaging a team of legal professionals and subject matter experts. Without these, we will be unable to take on a large corporation that has the funds and resources to push their proposal regardless of the detriment it will cause to our local community.
We know things are especially tight this time of year so no matter the size of your donation, we will be exceptionally grateful for your generosity.
