Story
Our good friend scott and god father to our beautiful little girl was sadly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 26 years of age. Now not even 10 years later and 35 years old he is completely wheel chair bound and struggles with simple day to day activities like picking something up off of the floor when it has been dropped. Scott has hired private carers that assist him daily in simple tasks like shopping, washing and cleaning. MS has completely stripped him of his independence and the 'normal' things a 35 year old should be doing!
Over the past 8 years (when me and my husband met and scott came into my life) I have watched Scotts condition deteriorate. This lack of freedom has taken a hold on Scotts life and gradually he has started to become a shell of the person he was. We want to help bring the scott we all know and love back to us. Scott is a huge animal lover and many of our fondest memories include him messing and training his previous dog Luna and playing around with his 2 cats. They spark a light in him that nothing else quite does and gave a reason for him to get out of bed in the morning.
Scott has spoken many times of how an assistance dog would change his life he has never quite known how to go about it and we are helping him make this dream become a reality. We believe an assistance dog will change scotts life. Lets give him that reason to wake in the morning. Lets give him that confidence and independence to leave the house with confidence and be able to help him with simple tasks around the house that we take for granted everyday!
Assistance dogs are trained with their new owners in mind. they have the same rights as a guide dog would meaning they can help their owners anywhere they are needed! This in turn increases independence alone. Assistance dogs are 'task' trained and can be trained to do things like load the washing machine, bring medication, alert when medication is needed the list is endless depending on what the needs of their owners are.
We are aiming to raise initially £1000 this will assign a puppy to scott and start scotts' puppy on its training journey this is enough for us to sign some contracts. Scott will not receive his pup until it is fully trained and ready to support him in his daily life. The final sum we will need to raise over the next year and a half in order to aquire his puppy is £10000 which will be doing over a variety of fundraising events!
If you can donate even £1 towards scotts puppy we would greatly appreciate it!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
