As a registered charity our Pre-school is constantly striving to improve its facilities, activities and resources on very limited funds. Without fundraising the Pre-school would not be able to update resources and develop the provision we provide for the children.

This year we would like to develop three areas within our outdoor play area.

Firstly, year after year the children express great interest in role playing a builders/constructions site theme. We would like to create an area solely for this with a big sandpit for digging, mixing and transporting and providing a decked area where the children can build, plan and work together. Secondly and in addition to the construction site, we would like to extend our woodwork area. The children currently have a small shed for this popular activity, which is confined and too hot in the summer. We would love to be able to add an open fronted summer house and set it out as a proper woodwork workshop! this would be a great addition to the construction site. Interests start young and who knows if one day one of the children aspires to becoming a carpenter, builder, surveyor or architect! from the opportunities we gave them.

Our last project is to create a sheltered place where the children can change into their welly boots and waterproofs for forest school or outdoor play. By having a dedicated changing space the children will benefit from the time and space the area will give to them when learning the skills needed in getting ready for outdoor activities independently. All an important part of preparing for big school.
