On the 4th of August I will be abseiling 560ft, down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. I want to raise public awareness of our train guards and the key safety critical role they play. Train operating companies and the government are as one in trying to remove the safety critical guard, putting the safety of the travelling public at risk. With thousands of stations unstaffed around the country, people with disabilities will no longer be able to turn up and travel as and when they like. In defence of the public, guards have been taking industrial action for over 2 years and raising money to help support them is a privilege.
