Story
I'm Swimming 10.5 miles in Lake Windermere August 15th, to raise money for Graham Edwards to buy a road bike, he had to have his leg amputated earlier this year & is planning to do his FIRST ever Triathlon in September!
Graham's life began with a Big Bang in 1978. He was born with a birth defect called 'congenital talipes' more commonly known as 'club foot'. Graham's birth mother couldn't cope with such a tiny baby being so disabled sadly she made the difficult decision to put him up for adoption. Before his first birthday he had corrective surgery on both feet to try & straighten them, Graham was living in a children's home in the centre of Birmingham at that time. At 18 months old a beautiful, caring, loving couple decided to foster him, they had two children of their own & fostered other children too. At the age of 5 they decided to adopt him as no other families wanted such a disabled young child in the 80's. His new family taught him that instead of allowing his disability to control him, he could master it, Graham could in fact harness his disability & throughout life he has always ran harder & faster than most, yes he has fallen many times, has had many operations & faced many, many difficulties due to his 'club foot' but he always got back up & carried on with his life with a passion, always moving forward & never allowing his disability to dictate what he did.
Skipping forward to 2017 after many battles with professionals, Graham had put into practice a huge life style change & was in the best shape possible, he got his surgical team to agree to him having his right leg amputated below the knee, as years of surgery had gone as far as it could.
On February the 6th Graham started a new chapter in his life, following the surgery, physiotherapy & recovery went well.
Graham has a new goal - to complete a Triathlon, a road bike would enable this quest as it needs to be light, he is learning to swim & run.

I learnt to swim the Front Crawl in the summer of 2015; with encouragement from my swim coach Pete Wilby I signed up & completed a 5K pool swim for Comic Relief in March 2016. In September 2016 I completed the iconic 10K River Dart Swim for the charity 'Level Water'.
