Story
People in the rural communities of Ecuador often live in poverty with little access to clean water and education.
With a group of friends from school, we are planning to fly to Quito, the capitol, and trek to a rural community. We will volunteer and help them by doing a form of sustainable development, such as building a well, road or school.
A well would allow the children to not spend as much time in the mornings going to collect the water from dirty sources far away from their homes that have so many diseases in. This would give them more time for education so they can have a bright future and can support their families. A road would allow the people to have better access to places. A road to the school could save many children time and effort getting there. A school holds the key to a bright and successful future. Educating the young generation will allow the rural communities of Ecuador to escape the poverty they live in.
These things seem so small and insignificant to us because we take them for granted every day. But such a small thing can have such a great impact on the lives of different generations of Ecuadorians living there who have nothing. I really want to help make a difference and hope you will support me on my journey.
