Story
I would like to introduce you to my good friend Elisa. A vibrant, outgoing, generous and wonderful, single mother of three. I recently heard the awful news that she has been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. By the time the doctors caught it, it had already spread to both femur bones, her spine, sternum, both hips, several lymph glands and her lungs. Although the disease has been declared non curative, it can be managed, hopefully for many years, but it will undoubtedly shorten the time and quality of life she has left with her three beautiful children.
When speaking with her recently, she mentioned that Disneyland had always been a trip she'd hope to make with her children. Unfortunately, being a single mum, the overwhelming cost has so far prevented this. Abigail, Ezme and Jenson are aged 14, 7 and 5. Most children of their age dream of meeting fairy-tale princesses and riding the rides in this magical kingdom, but for these three children, their priorities are rapidly changing. Coming to terms with, and understanding what this diagnosis really means for their mum will be the hardest thing they've ever had to do.
So, I would really like to give them something to look forward to beyond Christmas this year. A trip of a lifetime for the children, and a chance for Elisa to enjoy their smiles while she still can. The doctors are doing all they can to fight this disease and keep the family together for as long as possible; many of Elisa's close friends are rallying around her to raise money to cover her day to day living expenses now that she in unable to work, but I would like to do something for them to take all their minds off the bleak future. I want to help them build more happy memories to treasure no matter what the outcome.
I want to send this extremely brave and deserving family to Disneyland.
Please donate anything you can spare to help make this happen. x

8 years agoWe did it! It was tough but surprisingly fun to run in princess outfits, despite the uncomfortably restricting fabric! We especially enjoyed all the support we got from the kids who were excited to see Disney Princesses taking part. It reminded us why this fund started and how happy we are to have reached our goal. Elisa and the kids WILL go to Disneyland, thanks to all your generosity! But there's a million more things they could do with the extra money to make this next year as enjoyable as possible, so please, keep donating :)
