Story
On Friday 25th May, 2018 I shall be running a half marathon to raise proceeds for the Dementia Friendly Peninsula Project facilitated by staff at Peninsula Healthy Living in partnership with Radius Housing, Alzheimer’s Society, and Dementia NI. Dementia is an umbrella term to describe the symptoms that occur when your brain is affected by specific diseases and conditions. The most well known forms are Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia but there are over a hundred different forms. We all know someone who is living with this heart-breaking condition. Every pound will count to help us support local people living with a dementia, their family and their carers. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

6 years agoOk so I completed the half marathon without injury on Friday evening, 25th May 2018. It was really tough and challenging, mentally and physically. However, I did it. Thinking of you all, your generosity, and how tough it is for people living with dementia and their carers and family pushed me on to that finish line. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. #DementiaFriendlyPeninsula

6 years agoLess than a week to go before the big event. One last appeal to those whose family members avail of the Dementia Friendly Peninsula project, and of course to my family and Facebook friends who have left donating to the last minute. This service is at risk without funds. Please give generously. Thank you

7 years agoThank you to everyone who has donated already. Plenty of time still to support this great cause. Dementia comes in many forms - we all know someone who is affected. I’ve never run anywhere near 13 miles in my life; but it’ll be worth every sore joint and blister if i can raise enough money to continue our Monday morning Memory Cafe.
