    Story

It's been nearly 3 yrs since mine and my families life was turned upside down. Normal day, woke up got out of bed to go to work and then dropped to the floor I couldn't move from the waist down. My spine had collapsed.
I was taken to hospital were I had emergency surgery to repair my spine but the damage was already done. My nerves had been damaged and it's left me with numbness in both legs and around my waist. I've worked since I was 16 yrs old I'm now 41 and I can't walk long distances, it's affected my balance and my core strength.

Theres a lot of things I can't do now which I took for granted running, jumping about with my girls even going on my tip toes. It left me in a state of depression I couldn't go out and be the person I was, I couldn't get my head round the massive change that had came from nowhere it had a massive impact on our lives. I was no longer a happy go lucky husband or father.

Then I got a kick up the back end from the wife and my parents and was taken to a wheelchair basketball session at
    THE OWLS.
Believe it or not I even met an old friend from way back who was now in a chair and played for OWLS.
To spend time with people with the same disability if not worse was a breath of fresh air I could talk to someone who could relate with the things I was going through and they would understand. Its helped me in a big way mentally and physically,
So I gave it a go and started to train with them and I now play for the second team.

I've been using an old chair of the clubs for the first season and now I have an opportunity to play with them again.
They've asked me to sign up for the next season and to further my progress I'm after a wheelchair that's suited to me I've gone as far as I can in the old chair.
I applied for a grant and they have granted me half the money I just need to raise the rest myself.
I'm not expecting to get what I've asked to be raised but obviously every penny counts.
    Thankyou.

I'm an old friend of your Mums so I know your story. You are very brave and I am sure the chair will be a great help.
