Greyhound Rescue Northeast is a family ran charity (1131609) that prides itself on the best care and quality of life for all retired or abandoned greyhounds.

They have a fabulous shelter based in the Northeast that gives all sight hounds in their care a large outdoor running and playing space, a built in single bed covered with thick duvets and fresh bedding and of course a bunch of fantastic volunteers that help to keep these dogs happy and spoilt each day until their forever home comes their way.

This non-profitable charity, needs the kindness of other animal lovers to help keep these dogs warm and happy especially in these cold winter months. As a volunteer for the charity myself I am going to be going down in 2 weeks time to play “Santa Paws” and would love to bring every dog a present for Christmas along with doggy cupcakes I’ve made myself.

If anyone has any toys, bedding, leashes, collars, or money they would like to donate please get in touch. I have the charity’s bank details to take donations to, and I would happily accept any doggy goods to make their Christmas extra special.

Greyhounds are the most gentle, loving and ever so grateful dogs I’ve came across, they get overlooked as a business rather than a family pet and companion more to often. If you took the time to spend even 30 minutes with one of these greyhounds I guarantee you would fall in love and be signing and adoption form instantly. (We know from experience) 🐶

Alot of greyhounds come from racing backgrounds, and some arnt quite as lucky to have trianers that love and care for them as an animal not just their business.

Quite often enough once the greyhound is either no longer fast or fit enough to race, has had an injury or doesnt win any races, they very easily get pushed aside, abandoned and sometimes killed. This charity works its hardest to ensure this is not the case and goes out of their way to ensure all greyhounds they come across are kept safe and rescue them into their care, where they work tirelessy ontop of their normal jobs to makesurenevery hound find its forever sofa and happily ever after.

Thank you for reading about my fundraiser and a bigger thank you if you have anything at all to offer even if its interest in adopting a gorgeous 40 MPH couch potato! yep, thats right couch potato! greyhounds do NOT need endless amounts of excerise as everyone automaticaly assumes. Theyre are infact one of the laziest breeds of dogs out there. Apart from one to two 30-60 minute walks a day, shorter if theyre off lead and running these dogs LOVE a duvet day like no other! Sleeping between 14-22 hours a day, aslong as you will share your sofa then a greyhound is pretty much the most perfect, low maintenced and loving dog out there.
