Weʼre raising £100 to I would like to raise some money for every day essentials for a community of people living in Sri Lanka with disabilities.

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
When we travelled to Sri Lanka in 2016 we met a lovely lady who has become our dear friend. She explained to us that she gives some of her wages to a community of people with various disabilities that live near her as they recieve no support or funding and rely on the kindness of the community to look after them, feed them and provide clothing and toiletries. This lady keeps me updated with how they are doing and sends me photos of her visits with them.
I‘m going back to Sri Lanka with my sister in September and I will be taking a suitcase full of clothes, toiletries, colouring books and coloured pencils and anything else I can gather together and fit in a case.
Whilst I’ve been planning this, a thought popped into my head about raising a small amount of money to be able to give as a gift to make life easier for them for a small amount of time.
If anyone would like to donate just a couple of pounds, the money would go straight to the people that need it the most. There are no costs, I could literally take the total raised, change it into Sri Lanken Rupees and hand it to my dear friend to be used to provide for these people.
If anyone that lives nearby would like to donate any clothes that would be suitable, the age range is from 14 to 23, there is also a big man of 35 that is very child like. As I mentioned above I am also collecting toiletries, colouring books and pencils/crayons etc. If you have anything suitable that you would be happy to donate please contact me to arrange collection/drop off.
I am unsure if others will feel as passionate about this as I do just from reading the little I have written but if you would like to help then thank you very very much x

About the fundraiser
We try to give in lots of small ways to people less fortunate than us. This is one of those small ways. I’m not expecting people to help, I’m not running a marathon or climbing a mountain worthy of support. I’m just providing a way that others can donate if they’d like to.
* JustGiving crowdfunders pay a small fee for our service. Find out how much it is and what we do for it.
