Tipu is a 2 year old female tabby - a stray kitten who wandered into our house & made a home in our hearts.

She was found sitting inside our house one very cold Winters night 2 years ago, soaked to the skin, severely dehydrated & starving to death. A tiny scrap of bones, held together with tattered fur; bleeding claws & weeping eyes - the only part of her really alive, the flu virus wreaking havoc in her tiny body.

We believe in our hearts that Tipu had been searching just for us - eager to find comfort, warmth, nourishment, help & to find love. She found the right home! It was not until a day later, that we found out Tipu is partially blind with only 30% vision. We've spent two years nursing her back to health, showering her with love & trying our hardest to make up for her desolate & sad start to life.

However, the maharani 'Tipu' has had a very tough week. She ran outside to explore & an hour later, simply collapsed. Our urgent rush to the vets with Tipu was timely - had we waited, the vet said, she would have died. A scan has revealed severe trauma & Tipu has been diagnosed with peritonitis and septicaemia. We do not know how she was injured & are devastated she has been hurt so badly. Our garden is completely secure & there's nothing in our garden that could have caused her injuries. We are at a loss to explain it. Her much needed surgery uncovered a serious tear in her stomach & a damaged spleen. Remarkably, the veterinarian surgeon discoved she had two spleens! She has had her damaged spleen removed, her stomach repaired & now sports a 15cm scar the length of her belly. Tipu is on heavy duty pain killers, antibiotics & is being fed intravenously.
