    Story

    Stephens Journey of Hope

My name is Mary, cousin to Stephen McMullan who is 25 years old and was a Top Amateur Boxer with a bright future ahead of him.

Unfortunately his fighting career has been cruely taken from him on 9th December 2021.

During a fight Stephen suffered an injury, it wasnt until the next day that it became apparent that he wasn't himself, he took unwell suffering from a Major Stroke leaving him having to be put into an induced coma being admitted to intensive care. Here we didnt know what lay ahead, we didnt realise this was were Stephen was going to begin the biggest fight of his life.

Stephen has fought so hard to be here with us today and continues to fight strong, he remains very sick and has been left with life changing injuries which is how ive come to set up this page.

All we want as a family is to give Stephen the best shot at life and for him to have the best quality of life to the best of his ability. For Stephen to be able to do this he is going to require intensive support, therapy and equipment which is a massive burden financially on the family as Stephen was the breadwinner. We just want to give back to him as much as he gave us in life, we want to give him as much indepedence as possible and cannot do this alone, so we would like to ask for as much help as possible to make his Journey a positive life changing one for Stephen.

Stephen will require intensive rehabilatation, an Eyegaze Computer System to enable him to communicate with others amongst other ongoing support. We want to help bring back that smile that lit up every room he entered.

Any funds not used towards Stephens Recovery will be donated to ICU and the Stroke Ward in The Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.

Stephen is told everyday about all the fundraising and all messages off support are read out to him, we know he is happy with this because he gives the biggest smile, to date we know that he is going to need so much help to get any type of recovery, he will need specialist equipment for communicating, he will also require intense therapies and rehabilitation. Any funds that isn't used for Stephen will be used to help others like Stephen and the hospital where Stephen is. Grateful to each and everyone off you xxxx
