The Northern Head and Neck Cancer Fund (HANC) is a cause that is close to my heart. I wanted to help and realised a good way would be to turn my moderate running ability towards my first marathon. I have therefore signed up for the Northumberland Coastal Marathon on 25 February 2017.

HANC was established in collaboration with Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust by my good friend, Evelyn Weightman in memory of her husband, Paul.

The aims of HANC are to:

aid funding of Head and Neck Cancer Awareness campaigns within the Northern region;
aid the funding of additional equipment and services above and beyond what Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust can provide;
improve and enhance the Northern Head and Neck Cancer patient and carer experience;
aid research and education in the field of head and neck cancer in the Northern region.
