    Story

Jo Blair & Susan Ayrton will be joining Bamboo (a non-profit charitable trust) this November to volunteer in Thailand in numerous community-based, Thai-led projects, which includes education, childcare, construction, and elephant care.

As well as providing for their own travel expenses including flights, they now need to each raise £1200 to contribute towards the charities community based projects. This is where they need your help and support to achieve this great cause!

They will help teach English in the Chaing Rai Hill Tribes enabling children a much better chance in the future to gain employment and escape poverty. They will also take part in Building and Childcare projects to support communities where children and families live in very basic conditions.

On top of this, they will help assist with the care of Elephants in the village to enable them to live in their natural environment.
Elephants were traditionally used as farming equipment in the logging industry. The government made logging illegal 40 years ago which had a massive negative effect on the well being of the elephants. In order for the Mahoots (elephant handlers) to find money for the huge amount of food they eat (about 150kg a day), they took the elephants onto the busy streets of major cities to beg for money. The project fees will help keep the elephants of the streets. Activities they will take part in will be, living with & looking after the elephants in the elephant sanctuary, planting sugar cane to feed the elephants, taking them for a walk to the river whilst washing, feeding and learning how to look after and train them.

They need your support! Please help to cover the costs of the project fees in this worthwhile volunteering experience.
