Story
On Saturday 2nd September on the first game of Bournemouth Rugby Football Club's season Toby was competing at the breakdown for a turnover, during the clear out his foot remained planted whilst his body continued to rotate - this resulted in a broken ankle.
The surgery to repair his tibia and fibula was able to take place just hours after the injury occurred thanks to the incredible treatment and care from the pitch side medical team at BRFC. However, this injury will take months of rest and rehabilitation to heal, and during this time (as a self employed tree surgeon and roofer) Toby will be unable to work. With this in mind, we are trying to help raise funds for his loss of income.
So far Toby has been extremely lucky with the care and treatment he has received at both BRFC and Poole Hospital, which will go a long way in aiding his recovery. We want to ensure his recovery continues in the best way possible without Toby feeling stressed and worried about how he will pay his rent or next household bill. As no players at BRFC are paid to play at the club, we felt the BRFC family and rugby community should come together.
For those of you that know Toby you will understand that he would be the first to help anyone in need, especially his friends, family or team mates. He is a proud man and it is very difficult for him to accept help, especially financially. His influence on the pitch during the 2016/17 season was incredible and his hard work and dedication resulted in him being awarded New Player of Year last season. He is a huge part of our BRFC family and we can't imagine our team without him.
Please help us support him and allow him to focus fully on his recovery and getting back to work...and back on the rugby pitch where he belongs!!
