Daisy is our 11 year old daughter who was diagnosed with a rare condition called agenesis of the corpus callosum at the very young age of 6months old following a stay in hospital after she started to have seizures. She had an mri scan which then showed that her brain was not formed properly and her prognosis for the future was bleak. She has grown into a very determined and remarkable young lady, she has proved the Drs wrong as they thought in the beginning that she would be completely immobile as well as deaf and blind. Daisy is wheelchair bound and is non verbal, but despite this she is a very cheerful girl and always greets you with a smile.
Her seizures continue to this day, as well as being registered as partially sighted Daisys balance and coordination is very poor which is why we are seeking a specialist bed for her to ensure no harm can come to Daisy during the night. The new bed has very high padded sides with large perspex doors to keep Daisy in a safe space so that She doesn't hurt herself if She has a seizure. She currently has a timmy cot which she is now far too tall for and the local authority are unwilling to provide the bed so we are left seeking the amount of £8,000 to ensure the safety of our beautiful girl.
We do not have any outside help for Daisy as we chose to take care of all aspects of her care ourselves and we plan to do this as long as we possibly can. When Daisy gets her new bed we are planning to donate the one that she has outgrown to another child who needs it as these beds are out of price range for many families and we would hate to another family to be in the position we are in.
All we want as Daisys family is to make her as safe and as comfortable as we possibly can as she has had enough issues in her lifetime.
