    Story

Team JD Cool Runnings consisting of Lorna Jermyn, Samantha Simper, Gina Hurrell, Sarah Young and Jodi Whitehead will all be taking part in this year's 'Equinox24' running event - a 24 hour mixed terrain race around a 10k loop against the clock taking in the sites of Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire. The event will begin midday on Saturday 21st September and ending midday on Sunday 22nd September.

The King’s Lynn based West Norfolk Self Advocacy Project and Little Discoverers West Norfolk School for Parents (WNSfP), as well as Neuroblastoma UK have been chosen by JD Cooling Group as their charities of the year. As a thank you for the personal support some of the company’s employees have received from the charities in the past, all three organisations will benefit from fundraising initiatives throughout the next 12 months.

West Norfolk Self Advocacy Project is a group run by adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems with the focus on doing things for themselves, WNSfP help children with movement difficulties and delayed development, and Neuroblastoma UK fund research projects for the treatment of the childhood cancer with the ultimate mission of finding a cure.

David Richards of West Norfolk Self Advocacy Project commented: “West Norfolk Self Advocacy Project is so happy that JD Cooling is supporting our work. All of our income comes from local people and local businesses and we receive no Local Authority finding at all. Without this sort of commitment from our supporters we would not be able to function. We feel very proud that a company such as JD cooling with its commitment to service and community is prepared to support our group.”

Kat Brittain of Little Discoverers said: “We are so thrilled to have been chosen to be one of JD Cooling’s charities of the year! Little Discoverers relies on donations to be able to provide our service to local families who have pre-school aged children with physical development delays. At Little Discoverers, West Norfolk School for Parents, we must raise around £36,000 a year in order to supply our families with a space that is accessible and local, specialist staff and equipment and also sibling activity sessions in the school holidays.

Every donation we receive is a huge help in reaching this target and allows us to continue providing children and families with a service they desperately need.”

Tony Heddon, Chairman of Neuroblastoma UK commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as JD Cooling’s Charity of the Year. The fundraising efforts of the JD Cooling team will ensure we can fund more research projects to help us towards our ultimate goal of beating neuroblastoma.”
