For those of you who know him, you will know just what an inspirational child Archie is. He never complains, and despite the huge battles he faces he is always fighting with a smile on his face.

Up until recently Archie has used a power chair called a Koala. This chair changed his life and opened up his world. Archie started using his Koala when he was just 2 years old and up until recently it has met his needs.

However Archie is now very nearly 6 and is in Year One. As his condition is regressive keeping a good posture when sitting is absolutely crucial to prolong spinal surgery.

Unfortunately Archie now has one dislocated hip and moderate scoliosis. He is also awaiting Hamstring Lengthening Surgery due to increasing tightness in his right leg Archie has not stood at all for about 9 months, and as you can appreciate, for us as a family, that is absolutely devastating.

If Archie had a Snapdragon, it would mean he could go longer periods without experiencing pain due to the fantastic seating position that the chair provides. A Snapdragon also adjusts at the touch of a button to enable the user to sit on the floor, or elevates to allow access to higher areas. This means Archie would be able to independently access the floor space at home and school, and for the first time ever he would be able to explore he natural ground around him independently for instance when he attends forest school with his peers.

Another amazing part or the Snapdragon is that the user can also be in a standing position whilst using the chair. Meaning post-surgery Archie could stand with his peers whilst taking part in lessons such as P.E and Cookery. I truly believe this ability to be mobile whilst standing would greatly help during his recover period and then therefore encourage him to maintain the ability to stand for as long as possible.
