Team Hope is fundraising to help support the Redbridge Community Sponsorship Scheme. We are a group of women who are going to be walking 28km in the Thames Path Challenge to raise £9000 and help settle a Syrian refugee family into Redbridge. Please sponsor us to make this happen! Over the next 7 months we will be training, getting fit and preparing for the walk!

We have all seen pictures of refugees fleeing places of conflict like Syria and our hearts have gone out to them as we recognise their need for safety and shelter. You may have wondered what you could do but felt powerless to know what?

Community Sponsorship is a government scheme which offers local communities the chance to do something practical by taking the lead in welcoming a Syrian refugee family into their area

Sponsoring refugee families has been happening for a long time in Canada. The experience there has shown that, becoming a sponsor can be one of the most rewarding ways of providing direct help to refugees.

A sponsoring group needs to find accommodation for the family for the first 2 years, raise £4500 for each adult, put together a team of befrienders who will help the family to settle in over a year, get permission from the Local Authority and liaise closely with them to ensure the family have access to local services and that there are strong safeguarding procedures in place.

Redbridge Community Sponsorship Partnership is a group of people from churches and Mosques in Redbridge who are applying to welcome a family through the Community Sponsorship Scheme.
