Test Valley Astronomical Society, a registered charity (1172943), was founded in 2017 and is dedicated to public outreach and education in the science of Astronomy.

Our aims and objectives are clear:

1) Provide information, facilities, equipment, lectures, meetings and observing sessions.

2) Provide a society where like-minded people can meet and participate in practical observing and educational sessions on a regular basis.

3) Provide and operate a public observatory, for the public benefit, in the Test Valley or New Forest Districts.

Our third aim is the most ambitious, yet achievable, of the society. We aim to create and manage a public astronomical observatory where members of the public can visit and observe the night sky using good quality optical equipment. Our project will cost approximately £70,000 and we need every penny we can get to bring an observatory to the Test Valley or New Forest Districts.

This will be the first and only Public Observatory in the county providing a place of learning, outreach and education.
