Story
On 11 March 2018 I'll be taking on the Barcelona Marathon along with Tom Rose, Adam Donaldson, Joe Trickett and Brad Wherry.
Thanks for visiting our page. Have a read of our story below...
Why are we running?
We'll be running the streets of Catalonia to help support the Alan Patterson Trust. As some of you may know, the Alan Patterson Trust was set up in August 2016 to support Alan in his rehab journey after sustaining a serious spinal cord injury, and to raise awareness in helping find a cure for paralysis.
Three of us (Madill, Wherry & Trickett) will be making our long-awaited marathon debuts, while the other two will be aiming to match (or better) the dizzy heights of Paris ’16 (Rose) and Dublin ’14 (Donaldson).
Why support us?
Any donation no matter how small would be a massive help to Alan and the Trust, and will also help get the five of us through the next few weeks of training and through the 26.2 miles on raceday itself.
Due to his incredible fight and determination, and support from family and friends, Alan has made huge strides in his recovery. But his rehab journey continues and so too the need to raise funds for his support and treatment, as well as the ongoing fight to help find a cure for paralysis.
For Alan’s story, check out the Alan Patterson Trust facebook page or have a read of the below...
Thanks a million for your support...

Alan’s story
On 30 July 2016, Irish hockey player Alan was involved in a trampoline accident and sustained a dislocation in his neck at C5 & C6 level resulting in paralysis from the chest down.
Alan spent 54 days in Intensive Care at The Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and a further 19 days in the spinal unit before being transferred to Musgrave Park Hospital, where he continued his recovery.
Whilst he continues to receive therapy input from the team at Musgrave, this is only the beginning of Alan's journey to recovery and he continues to require intensive rehabilitation which is not offered by the NHS.
The goal of the Alan Patterson Trust is to raise the necessary funds for the dedicated support and treatment Alan requires, and also raise awareness for the fight to find a cure for paralysis.
Thanks for your support and welcome to Alan's journey...
